This week’s featured artist is an indie-super-group of musicians with members hailing from bands such as Drypoint, Forever Changed, The Myriad, and Twothirtyeight. Having established the 4-piece indie-altrock outfit in the heart of Seattle, there is no doubt Verlaine has taken influence from the city’s music culture and attributed it to that “Seattle sound” that they have. The band has been writing, recording, and releasing songs online as they go and have already received great feedback from the community and has even gotten some radio play in the UK! I was able to catch Verlaine at their first show ever last night at The Sunset Tavern (a great little Chinese restaurant turned hipster-bar-pizza-joint-venue in Ballard), and it was almost hard to believe they have never played a show together. Verlaine’s musicianship and stage presence was undeniable; the band was tight and the vocals were on par, and arguably even better live than the recordings.

I would not be surprised if Verlaine showed up on the Bumbershoot lineup next year (crossing my fingers)! Check them out and support the local music scene!

You’ll totally dig Verlaine if you like:
