The Self-Titled Tour: Paramore (w/Metric & Hellogoodbye) Concert Recap + Setlist

Waiting in line for my fifth Paramore concert last night felt like waiting for my first Paramore concert. The excitement, thrill, and elation I get from watching this band perform is unparalleled (with very, very few exceptions; i.e. Muse). Whether you are an experienced Paramore show-goer, or it is your first time, you can expect a night to remember. Jeremy, Taylor, and the touring musicians were as tight as ever. The band introduced more keyboards and sounds effects on this tour, resulting in a fuller and comprehensive sound. And Hayley’s vocals; they were nothing short of flawless (added riffs and melodic-variations that you can only hear at live shows are a definite highlight).

On top of their great performance, the staging and production was awesome (props to Jeremy)! The light show and graphics were so cool to watch and they complimented the songs perfectly (if you’ve ever seen M83, it was reminiscent of their stage light show). It was for sure Paramore’s most elaborate production to date, and appropriately so for the one and only Self-Titled tour!

If you are dying to know their setlist, here it is (About mid-set, I was like “hey, this is almost identical to their iTunes Festival setlist,” sure enough, it was!)… Also, can we all just take a moment to appreciate this killer list? “When it Rains” and “Last Hope” are my two favorite “softer” Paramore songs, and the fact that they performed them back-to-back with Hayley on the keys for both — perfect.

Having been a band since 1998, Metric is definitely a very well-respected veteran in the alt-rock community (and rightfully so!). Metric always brings a solid show to the stage, and they give off just a “chill” energy to the venue. I have seen these dudes and gal a few times now and they never disappoint. Last night’s set was a sort of like a “Best of Metric” set. They played their most notable hits such as “Gold Guns Girls,” “Help I’m Alive,” and “Breathing Underwater.”

Opening up the night was Hellogoodbye, and they graced the crowd with ALL new songs and closed their set with fan-favorite, “Here (In Your Arms)!” Their upcoming record is going to be released in a couple weeks and you can anticipate a more indie/alt-rock vibe from them (comparable to the likes of The Naked and Famous, Walk the Moon), as opposed to the more pop/rock-influenced stuff in their earlier years. The guys had great energy and got kept the crowd engaged, I’m pumped to get my hands on that new record!

Hope y’all had as much fun as I did last night on DAY 1 of The Self-Titled tour! If you missed it, not to worry, Paramore was just added to 106.1 KISS FM’s Jingle Ball lineup at the Comcast Arena on December 8th! The rest of you US/Canada Paramore fans, check out the rest of their tour dates here.

Peace, Love, & Rock n’ Roll,
A-Tran.
