KISS FM Seattle’s Jingle Ball Recap
Fifth Harmony
I have loved these girls since The X Factor! As individuals they were good, but as a group, something definitely clicked! They have grown so much as vocalists, they’ve strengthened their harmonies, and have brushed up on their choreo for a complete girl group package. Check out “Don’t Wanna Dance Alone” and “Leave My Heart Out of This” for some bangers! They will be on tour with Demi Lovato and Little Mix next year, and I can’t wait!
Icona Pop
You all know the ultimate fist pump song of 2013, “I Love It,” but you probably didn’t know how powerful this duo is as vocalists! The girls put on a fun set and surprised me with their huge vocal range on songs we don’t get to hear on the radio!
Austin Mahone
To my surprise, Momma Tran knew a Austin Mahone song! “What About Love” is undeniably catchy and this kid is a rising little pop star. Bieber and One Direction fans will likely approve!
Travie McCoy
Personally, I’m like “ehhh” on Travie. I don’t like him, and I don’t not like him. Ya feel? Although “Billionaire” featuring Bruno Mars will always be my jam!
Paramore
All Paramore fans know that the band always recruits an audience member to sing the bridge of “Misery Business” with them on stage. I have been trying to do this the past 4 times I have seen them with no success. Any who, the girl that went on stage did not know any of the lyrics, mumbled words during the instrumental break, and didn’t even dance/look like she was having fun! Sigh. I may or may not be bitter… With that aside, Paramore put on a stellar set, per usual! Their short, but very sweet set included radio hits “Misery Business,” “The Only Exception,” “Still Into You,” and their next single “Ain’t It Fun.”
New Politics
New Politics, one of my new favorite bands, only got to play TWO SONGS. That, my friends, is injustice! Despite their ratchet time slot, the dudes of New Politics put on a killer show! High energy, impeccable stage presence, ridiculous breakdancing, guitar throwing (and catching), and everything else you would expect from a rock show!
Selena Gomez
Good things about Selena’s performance: her musicians, her back-up singers, and her dancers…
Flo Rida
Can we all just remember the “Low” hype!? I was WAY too pumped when Flo Rida closed out his high energy set with some “boots with the fur” and “Reeboks with the straps.”
Fall Out Boy
“Sugar We’re Going Down” and “Dance Dance”… that is all my friends!
Peace, Love, & Rock n’ Roll,
A-Tran.
